What is the physical max torque for the 722.6 transmission. The renntech tune I’m looking at has more torque (745 lb-ft torque) than Mercedes’ own limits on the S65 (738 lb-ft torque). Will my transmission grenade if I get it ?

This won’t be of much help but.

Until you tune it, your transmission can both handle the torque and will explode. (Schrodinger’s Transmission)

Isn’t it 1000 ft/lbs of torque? One of my friends had a stage 3 Renntech CL65 AMG, and I thought he said it was limited to 900 ft/lbs. It may have been in newton meters, it was a few years ago.

Just...no

You’re doing it all wrong. You gotta de-tune your engine to only make 230lb-ft, that way the 722.6 will last forever.

Its been working for me.

I’d guess, from the point of view of someone who hasn’t the slightest evidence for this, that it was 900 Nm if only because 900 lbs/ft seems a bit excessive for something you’d put in a car.

It is 900 ft/lb.... So it is that excessive. It has been since around 2010 since I drove it.

“This morning, RENNTECH announced a new “stage 3 tune for the 2008 65 series AMG models, which makes use of what RENNTECH calls“next-generation ECU software” to get 695 hp and 890 lb-ft of torque from the AMG’s twin-turbo V12.”

That’s a lot of twisting force.

It’s a lot of car to move though. lol Those comfy leather heated and cooled massaging memory foam seats are heavy.

Bad idea. Bad idea. Bad idea. Just because those RennTech tunes exist doesn’t mean we are to partake. The 5G-Tronic we were given grenade in anything powerful WITHOUT mods on the engine. E55 and S55 AMG, SLs, anything. They all have fairly regular reports of transmission failures from just being driven hard under factory spec.

It's all purely speculative at this point. But I've never heard of a 722.6 failing under normal stress
